An interview with @faceless_trooper
Hello, @beermanphotography here with another interview!
Thank you for participating in this interview, I am very excited to talk with you! How long have you been a toy photographer?
A: I have been a toy photographer for just over three years now.
Q: What got you started in toy photography?
A: I had been taking photos for several years before I got into toy photography. Growing up, I was an avid LEGO collector, and I made the transition to collecting action figures right before I started attending university. I saw the work of Vesa Lehtimäki and sgtbananas, and that really got me interested in trying to take photos of my figures.
Q: What is your favorite figure to shoot and why?
A: My favorite figure to shoot is probably my Hot Toys Shoretrooper. Rogue One had some of my favorite stormtrooper designs. I enjoy shooting my shoretrooper because the tan armor works with a different color palette compared to the white armor of regular stormtroopers. Shoretroopers tend to work better in warmer lighting such as sunsets. Also their armor design is absolutely amazing.
Q: What is your favorite place to take photos?
A: My favorite setting for photos is outside. My backyard can be the setting for many different scenes. The weeds can serve as a forest for my 1/12 figures and a field of wheat for my 1/6 figures. I have also created setups that are reminiscent of 20th century trench warfare, and some of my favorite images have come from using a trench coupled with some flour to simulate falling snow. The biggest benefit to shooting outdoors is the ability to use practical effects like flour, dirt, and fireworks to add realism and impact to my photos.
Q: What’s the weirdest thing that has ever happened during a photo shoot?
A: The weirdest thing to ever happen during a photoshoot was a photo I caught of my Sideshow Denal as he fell over, and I actually ended up posting that photo because it looked like he was wearily treading forward.
Q: If you could have any superpower what would it be and why?
A: The Force counts as a superpower right?
