Q: How long have you been a toy photographer?
A: I officially started calling myself a toy photographer last March.
Q: What got you started in toy photography?
A: I had been sharing random photography that I felt was my best. I took a shots of toys on my dresser in February and started seeing toy photography. I did not know how big of a community there truly was. I took a shot of a Star Wars Trooper in February and it was my first featured image. I have been addicted ever since.
Q: What is your favorite figure to shoot and why?
A: My favorite figure to shoot is Marvel Legends Gwenpool. She was the first figure I could afford that had several hand / head accessories and her character backstory allows her to be in any situation. I dislike figs that have only clinched fists though I kick myself for not getting a Rouge when she first came out.
Q: What is your favorite place to take photos?
A: I have two places. I shoot in my bedroom where I can use my computer monitor for backgrounds. The other is my basement where I can use my fog machine to get more atmosphere and creative with my lighting. My wife doesn’t like me smoking up the rest of the house.
Q: What’s the weirdest thing that has ever happened during a photo shoot?
A: The strangest thing happened just the other day. I was in the basement with the fog machine and a single light source. I was shooting Zombie Hulk petting a Zombie Dog. I had everything set up and pressing the shutter release button on my camera just as something slammed on the table that the figs were standing on. As if someone slammed their hand on the table hard. I flicked on the lights and found myself completely alone. Nothing had fallen on the table. I have no idea what the hell that was.
Q: If you could have any superpower what would it be and why?
A: I would want the ability to heal others without them knowing it was me. I would start at children burn units and heal every child suffering with horrible burns. I would give sight and hearing to the deaf and blind. I would take cancer out of people. I know that sounds like god powers more than super powers but I think that would truly be what I want. I think about that all the time.
