Q: How long have you been a toy photographer?

A: I’m coming up on two years as a toy photographer!

Q: What got you started in toy photography?

A: Like a lot of new college graduates, I never realized how much free time I’d have without classwork and part-time jobs! When I started to see other toy photographers on Instagram and recognized the figures I was already collecting, I figured I’d put some of that time to use and give it a shot myself!

Q: What is your favorite figure to shoot and why?

A: This is a tough one! I have a lot of reoccurring “characters” on my page, and those figures probably end up being my favorite. Among those would be the Black Series Gammorean Guard, Admiral Ackbar, General Veers, and Emperor Palpatine. I’m also a sucker for any of the bad guys, so there’s always going to be plenty of Imperial and First Order troops in my shots.

Q: What is your favorite place to take photos?

A: All of my photos are taken in a lightbox, so I suppose “the desk in my living room” is the best and only answer.

Q: What’s the weirdest thing that has ever happened during a photo shoot?

A: It’s always embarrassing when someone knocks on the door and I’m in the middle of shooting. They expect to find a fully functioning adult in a normal apartment and are instead greeted by a man in his pajamas with an alarming amount of toys spread everywhere. If anyone else has a way to explain that all away, please let me know!

Q: If you could have any superpower what would it be and why?

A: No hesitation here; I want the ability to freeze time. Not only would I get 10 times more work done than everyone else, but I could finally catch up on a growing list of shows, movies, video games, and books. There is no better feeling than a quiet afternoon with a good book, but I’m only able to sneak one of those in maybe once a month. If that could be an everyday thing without having to sacrifice other commitments and responsibilities, then I’d be the happiest guy around.
