Q: How long have you been a toy photographer?

A: Hello and thank you very much for the interview. I started taking pictures of toys roughly about a year ago, in March 2019 I think. But I only started my Instagram account in May.

Q: What got you started in toy photography?

A: Thinking about it, I was going through a painful period in my life and I started taking pictures just to entertain myself and not to think so much about stuff. Taking pictures of things I love always brings me peace of mind. As the photos were getting better, I decided to open an Instagram account to share simple photos of my toy collection with people with the same interest and don’t just leave them hidden on my hard drive. Back then I did not imagine today having the photos that make up my account and looking back I feel very proud of what I accomplished. The support given by the community also helped a lot and gave me the strength to improve even more. It has been a process of continuous learning that has brought me a lot of joy and some friendships from all over the world.

Q: What is your favorite figure to shoot and why?

A: Right now I’m loving taking pictures of the Dragon Ball figures from the S.H.Figuarts brand. However, for a very long time my favorite figure for taking shots was the 1/6 scale Verycool Toys Villa Female Soldier VCF-2031. I love this figure because it is very beautiful, photogenic and adapts very well to any scene I want to shoot. Due to that it was my “GO TO” figure back then and I learned a lot about photography taking shots of it. I still intend to shoot again with this figure, but not as focused on it as in the past.

Q: What is your favorite place to take photos?

A: I love to take photos outside in my garden and enjoy the natural light, but where I live the Sun is very strong most of the time and I can only get good tones at sunrise or sunset. During cold weather this is out of the question and I prefer to take pictures at home in an improvised studio. For this I built a large custom light box with several light sources that adapts to my needs.

Q: What’s the weirdest thing that has ever happened during a photo shoot?

A: Well, it’s not very weird, but last summer I left the Villa figure in the garden and went inside to drink a refreshment. When I came back she was being attacked by a swarm of ants. Fortunately, they didn’t harm the figure.

Q: If you could have any superpower what would it be and why?

A: I would love to have a variety of super powers just like Superman but if I could only have one it would be supernatural strength. It would be phenomenal because I could use it to save lives not to mention that it would be super useful for ordinary life too.
